Nicholas Mellamphy, among many things, created The Room to be a world class luxury fashion destination. Assuming the post of VP and creative director, Nicholas resurrected the dormant brand of The Room and through his business acumen, ability to sell expensive merchandise and prowess with media he contemporized The Room so it became known as a brand evoking sartorial luxury and it swiftly became Canada’s leading luxury retail enclave. Vanity Fair’s annual Style issue consistently referenced The Room as the retail destination of choice for women on its all important Best Dressed List. Along with all of this, during his tenure at The Room, Nicholas created a  new market in North America for sought-after designers from London, New York and Paris - among them Balmain, Charlotte Olympia, Erdem, Giambattista Valli, L'Wren Scott, Nicholas Kirkwood, Roksanda and Thomas Tait. His support allowed these and other brands to flourish and attract leading U.S. retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman.
